For our thriller fil, we needed to find a piece of music that fitted the theme of our film. As it has a romantic theme to it we decided that a piano would be a good sound to use. We have looked through various pieces of music and found a few to chose from.

Photo
The picture below is the photograph of the woman and the man. He will have it in his wallet when he goes to pay the prostitute. It mis meant to show the audience he is with another girl but do we know who she is? This will lead to suspension and questions. Also having the red roses in makes it look like they are getting married? but you do not know whether it is with the prostitue (lydia) or Lizzie.
Changes
For our thriller film we had originally arranged to film at Jess' house. However due to Jess leaving school we have had to make various changes to our thriller. We have decided to film the establishing shot at Great Bardfield this is easier as Hannah lives in this village.
The above image is taken from Google, this gives you an idea of the village. However due to making the thriller film we have decided to film this shot in the evening when the natural light is dimmer and therefore giving it a scary feel.
Another change we have to make is that we can no longer film at Jess' house. We have changed location to Emily's house in Takeley this is easier to get to and still has the rooms and setting that we need.
The above image is taken from Google maps this is a ariel view of our new location for filming.

analysis of silence of the lambs
Silence of the lambs is a well know thriller film.
I wanted to look at another thriller film before we started filming. I noticed a few camera techniques when i was watching the opening scene through today. They used tracking when the main lady was running through the forest, this gave the effect that someone was chasing her or she was in a rush? They also did a close up on to a sign, this may have given hints to what was happening, where she was? all these details make the watchers have questions going on in their heads.
I noticed one editing technique used. Doing editing to a thriller film is important because editing is part of the process of making a film. It involves selecting and mixing of different shots. It is the way to get the story across. Film editing is good because if done well no one knows. They use a motivated cut when she is in the office and she is looking at something on the wall and he is talking but you don't see what it is. This builds tensions and makes you want to watch more.
Sound in my opinion is the most important. In most thriller films minor key would be used but sometimes building up to major. Having a sound bridge which is when a piece of music links two scenes also helps. The musical score they use when she is running really builds tension. There is also some dialogue but not much just formal short sentences. This really makes you want to watch on as you only get bits They also add in a diagetic sound when she is panting. This indicates that someone is chasing her, she is in trouble etc?
Lastly M-e-s is very important. His costume when he stops her makes you know straight away that he is FBI. This helps you know where they are and who they are. The setting in the biggest way of creating the best atmosphere, it is very dark and gloomy. Props are in the shot as well and they are guns which shows it is important and dangerous what they are dealing with. Also a newspaper to show what is going on.

Feedback on low budget films
An example of a low budget film is the blair witch product which is probably the most famous and successful low budget film.
Looking at this helps me to think our low budgeted film could be a success.

One year later, their footage was found. |

The final storyline of opening scene
Our film is a bit different to a typical thriller as we have added romance into it as well. Our opening scene starts with an establishing shot filmed around 4-5pm in Great Bardfield. We have decided this because it is very quiet and a bit creepy. Then it will zoom into a window ( which will be Emilys house). It will be the leading lady getting ready so a lot of camera techniques being used. Although at the meantime have the cross cutting to a different scene. The other scene will be her husband but will the audience know that at this time? laying in bed with a prostitute. We are adding little hints in such as a wedding picture in his wallet and a womans name ringing his phone. After the build up we will have a close up on both of their faces but the womans face to seem angry. It will end on her grabbing a gun and walking out the door.
Music
We have found a piece of music that we like but we were also thinking of having a girly song for when she is getting ready to make it seem more realistic and so it is not so 'typical'.
Types of diagetic and non-diagetic sound that we could be good for our film;
- Direct sound- Live sound
- Studio sound- Sound recorded in a studio to improve the sound, mising out ambient sound.
- Selective sound- The removal of sounds and making some sounds more recognisable
- Sound perspective/aural perspective- The impression of distance in sound
- Sound bridge- Adding to continuity through sound (narration, dialogue or music)
- Dubbed dialogue- Post-recording the voice-track in the studio, the actors matching their words to the on-screen lip movements.
- Parallel sound- sound caused by some event on screen which matches the action
- Commentary/voice-over narration. Commentary spoken off- screen over the shots shown
- Sound effects- Any sound from any source other than synchronised dialogue
- Music- Music helps to add an atmosphere
- Silence- Silence can show a lot of things
Weather
We are going to film the establishing shot on saturday night. As we want it to be getting dark to add a good atmosphere.
Plans
We need to make new plans as one of the members of the group have left. We have arranged our actors which are Ellena, Karis and Will. We are going to film on wednesday 2nd of February, we are a bit late but due to problems this is the best day. Emilys house is going to be our location as it is nearer to school for everyone.

music
Music
We chose this for our music because it has a scary feel to it which is good for the 'thriller' part of it. Then also the piano gives the romantic side to it. This is our main music but we may include other pieces of music for different scenes as they are having different atmospheres.

Filming
As a group, we need to complete our media filming and edit it. We are going to take Thursday's lesson to complete all filming and then the following lesson to edit it. As we have a distinct and precise view of what we would like our media film to turn out like, we will have to spend a lot of time carefully editing. This will probably include using up our lunchtimes, after schools and lesson frees to complete this to our satisfaction.
Facebook Group
In todays lesson, we edited the Facebook page that we created by uploading the photograph which is now our production company's logo, edited the 'about me' and the 'information' box. This will enable us to promote our company and keep our 'fans' updated about our blog and about our media filming. This is a great way of promotion as so many people nowadays use Facebook as it is not only avaliable online, people can also have access via mobile phones, ipods etc.

Establishing shot ideas
Here our some locations for our establishing shot;
These are all pictures of quiet villages around where i live. The camera was broken but it still gives an idea of what kind of thing it will be. I like these for establishing shots because as the village is quiet it makes it more scary. I also tried to capture a lot of the old houses as this adds to the effect as well.
meetings
Plan 1
We go to jess' house on thursday period 4, lunch and period 5. We can get the train at 12.13 or 13.13 and film.
Plan 2
As we are having some problems with transport etc we need a back up plan. I think that if we can not do it at Jess's we should do it at either of the other houses

Storyboard and final cut express
We then took pictures of our storyboard on our post it notes. After that we went on final cut express and inserted the pictures that we took arranging them in the time that it would happen if were filming. This will help us be more organised when we go to film and help us make sure our timing is right and we have enough footage. Then in the same day we decided to rate our film as an 18 as there is guns, violence, strong language and prostitutes, we thought this was the best certificate.
Risk assessment
In our last lesson we discussed times and dates for our first filming session together. We have to complete a risk assessment for safety and precautions. We had to identify problems that could happen during our filming then the probability then how we can avoid it happening. For example if you have water on the floor state how we will stop the character falling over.

Props Ideas
For our opening of "Dangerously In Love" we will be using a variety of props such as a red lipstick. The shot of the red lipstick being applied is sultry and seductive but also the colour red symbolises danger along with the red heels. Every prop in our film is going to have a significant meaning, an example of this is when the mans phone rings, we will use a Blackberry as it gives off a message of intelligence, education and money. We don't want our opening to come across as a typical thriller, therefor by adding in the sexy theme and multiple potential plots, we are keeping the audience entertained and intrigued. As some of the props play key roles in the opening sequence we will be using multiple camera techniques on them for example zoom, mirror shot, over the shoulder and tilting. This will enable our film to be different from all the others as we will have a variety of different shots. We will also be focusing on the main props for an extended amount of time compared to some of the other shots to imply that these are main parts to focus on.
Costume Ideas
For our thriller opening, I think that our costume is going to play a very important part in story telling as we dont have a script physically explaining the plot. By using costumes that indicate the characteristics or lifestyles of the characters, this will enable to viewer to slightly gain insight into the lives of our leading characters in the way we chose to portray them. For example, there are 3 main characters which will be in our opening sequence; the leading male character who we are basing on actors such as Jude Law or Brad Pitt, the wealthy, attractive, alpha-male who seems to have the perfect lifestyle, perfect house, perfect wife etc. His cotume will be the typical male suit, head to toe smart but looking attractive too.
The next lead character will be the female who will appear to be his wife. We are basing her on the character that actresses such as Angelina Jolie play in the film for example "Mr & Mrs Smith". As the opening sequence progresses, the wife will unveil some uncharacteristic traits which arent normally associated with these types of female characters. Her costume will start off in character, so the use of normal, plaid clothing then will change to something more seductive such as a black fitted dress with red heels as red heels are normally assosicated with a sexy, attractive woman in films.
The third character which we will show small clips of is going to persue the role of the seductive, man-stealing, provocative 'other' woman. We will portray this by using costumes such as stockings, suspenders and clothing of that sexual nature to imply this.

Certification of "Dangerously In Love"
In todays lesson we discussed what certification we should give our thiller opening. To ensure that we have chosen the correct certificate, we reseached the guidelines on the BBFC website and came to the conclusion of the rating "18". We chose this certificate as our opening will be showing scenes of sexual activity which cannot be justified by context. Also, where material or treatment appears to the BBFC to risk harm to individuals or, through their behaviour, to society – for example, any detailed portrayal of violent or dangerous acts, or of illegal drug use, which may cause harm to public health or morals. This may include portrayals of sexual or sexualised violence which might, for example, eroticise or endorse sexual assault.

Risk Assessment
Before starting the filming process of our thriller, we need to complete a risk assessment of where we will be filiming to ensure safety and that we have taken necessary precautions to avoid or help reduce the risks. We also have to write about if there is a possibilty if a risk will take place and if so, how we will solve this problem. An example of this would be: risk-tripping over the camera wires, possibility-5/10, precaution- we will make sure that the wires are out of the way of the actors at all times and are visible and tidy.
