We had a change of plan with our 5 second establishing shot at the beginning. I decided to refilm it for many reasons. Firstly the idea of filming in the car did not go as plan because the car moved a lot especially when changing gear. Also there was occaional traffic so it made me rush a bit. So i decided to stand on the end of my road and film a few houses.

Final video
Our final opening scene for our film Dangerously In Love.
Final day of editing 11/02/2011
Today we finished our final video. So we uploaded it to youtube. Overal i am not that happy with our outcome in some ways but in others i feel like i have achieved and learnt a lot.
We changed a lot of our original story plans. Firstly we added in Lizzie pulling up tights instead of having the part where she takes her gun as i feel this is a bit typical and by not showing this leaves you wondering what she is doing/thinking. We also took out zooming in on there wedding picture as we already had a close up of Patricks wallet with a photo of them in so we felt this was not necessary and that space could be filled with something better. Also instead of Lizzie walking down a corrider we changed it to Paddy walking to show he is leaving firstly because we could not get permission to go to a hotel and secondly it shows he did not live in that room.
The main thing that we changed was the actors and the location of our filming but i feel that this way worked out much better. Firstly because the actors were all friends so they were more comfortable working together and more confident infront of Emily and i. Secondly the location we changed to was much closer so it was easier for us all to access.
The establishing shot showed a few problems. Firstly we wanted to slow the footage down because it looked a bit fast and also it made it more mysterious because it was taking ages and the audience would just want to know what is happening next or where it is. Unfortunetly we wanted to slow it down to 25 but this made the footage flicker so in the end we changed it to 50 but instead cut out the end part where i zoom in as this was to quick.

transitions
Different transitions
Today i learnt how to fade the music once the opening was finishing instead of being a blunt cut so i clicked at the end of the song with right click and clicked on '' . So now i have a transition with the end footage so they both fade away at the same time.
We need a transition to join each clip which have different perspectives that we have to our next clip which will be our opening credits. There are a few different types of transitions we could use;
This helps to make different moods, times and different parts of the storyline.

- Straight cut, which is an abrupt transition between two shots.
- Fade which the scene increases or decreases into a frame of just one color
- wipes across the frame and takes over the previous seen.
- Mix
- Dissolve
- Digital effects
This helps to make different moods, times and different parts of the storyline.
Editing music
Music is the most important part of making the right mood for a film. It also kind of tells the story and builds you as because it goes louder and deeper usually when something is going to happen. A good example of music to build tension is in the film Psycho by Hitchcock. Orchestra musical instruments seem very popular in thriller and horror films.
We finally decided on a piece of music that we felt related best to our film. We then added the piece of music which was called 'dark walk' over the top. Unfortunately the music was shorter than our clip so we deleted the second songs beginning and added to the first song so where it crossed it was in a similar time in the song.
We decided on this piece of music as it was very creepy due to the piano and the soft notes. Also it sounds quite romantic which relates to our film. My favourite part was that it starts soft then as the music goes on it builds suspense by adding in a very loud, deep sound. This felt like tension was building which makes you feel tense and scared.

Logo ideas
First idea
I was testing some ideas for our production company logo which would appear at the beginning of our film. The one above i feel looks a bit like a romantic film production company.
Second idea
This one looks a bit more like a thriller film.
Third and final idea
The one below is my favourite which we most probably will use

Editing day 10/02/2011
Today we collected all of our footage and put them on the mac then downloaded them on to final cut express. We had to find the footage opened them and ran through all of them and put them in order, after this we realised we needed to cut a lot of footage out as we filmed a lot more than we needed to just in case. So each clip we dragged down in order to sequence 1. Each clip that we needed to shorten we got the razor, rolled the wheel back to the part and cut it. After each clip we had to add in one of our credits. Each clip we moved the yellow cursor to the lenght that we wanted the clip to show. To make it more like a thriller we added transitions by going on effects then addictive dissolve this kind of made it like a professional film.
We found that the camera was a little wobbly due to not using the tripod. Also the parts when they are in the bed it came out a bit dark so we changed the contrast to brighter but this did not have much of an effect. I am pleased that we got all the clips in that we wanted and did not have to delete or add more footage to get two minutes. We did change a few clips and take some out as we felt they were to similar and it flowed better by changing them.

second day of filming
Today we went back to Patricks house to do our second part of the filming. This was the part that Elizabeth was in. We had to do loads of clips of her getting ready trying to get different angles. All of the filming of her was done in his bathroom as it had four different mirrors which was good for our film. We did a lot of extra filming as we were still getting use to the camera and we wanted to get the angles right.
We found this hard as a lot of the time we were finding ourselves reflecting in the mirror behind Lizzie. Another problem we faced was that the bathroom was very small, Lizzie was standing very close and she is quite tall so using the tripod had many difficulties so we could not use this at all times.
I tried to zoom in as much as possible, kneel down and stand in various places to make it look a bit more interesting. We started off with her standing looking in the mirror as i was behind and filming up her body then her taking her hair out. I like this shot because it stayed quite still and was a bit suspicious as we had not seen her before this and we the audience would not know who she is. We also did more shots to build tension for example when she walked into the bathroom we filmed just her feet, this was to get the audience thinking.

Getting the camera wet 20% Make sure taps are off, toilet seat down and bath and sinks dry

Opening credits planning
Today we used final cut express to make our opening credits for our film. We used a very simple black background as i always think this works best because it looks quite strong and powerful. Then the font was quite fancy as it looks quite romantic but also a little bit scary as it is quite hard to read. The font looked a bit small but we are debating whether to make it bigger because i think it looks quite sophisticated. Instead of having the film name the same as the other credits i created one which would also go on the DVD case if we made one;
I like how it kind of gives you a false impression of what the film is like because it looks romantic but you could be correct in thinking by biting her lip looks quite scary.

Here are some different sounds we can have to make it dramatic when the credits come up. i think number 8 is good as it is quick and powerful.

First day of filming
Today we started our filming. We filmed the parts that Lydia and Paddy (prostitute and husband) were in. We filmed it in Paddys room as he has photos around and it looks like a young persons room. We then shut the curtains and door so we could create the best light. We wanted it dark so it looks dingy.
We dressed lydia up so she looked a 'typical' prostitute; she wore a corset, knickers, red lipstick, lots of make up and also messed her hair up. For extras we put a condom on the side and money in her knickers so the audience would know where he was. Paddy laid there with his short undone and his trousers. In the four seconds of them in bed we made Lydia look as if she is bored by looking at her phone and rolling her eyes.
In the background we had one of rhiannas songs on called skin

As there was a bit of speaking, coughing etc as we were filming we might take the sound of but add this song again as it adds to the atmosphere.

Planning
Due to issues with times, dates etc we had to make a few adjustments to our original plan. Instead of filming at Emilys with Ellena, Karis and Will on wednesday we had to change as they had different timetables and free time. So me and Emily had to change ideas as quick as possible. So we went to our original idea of having Lydia as the prostitute as she has simuliar timetables as Emily and i. We also thought she was be good as the prositute role because she is very confident which helps due to clothes and personality. We then replaced Ellena with Lizzie as the wife and killer. This was due to her having long hair which we originally had in mind although it is blonde. Then as the cheating husband we chose Paddy this was because we can only use people in our year as it is easier and we think he looks the oldest which helps as he is playing a mans role.
